Dedicated SFAWG volunteer and artist Darla Gaylor is putting her talent to work for the animals! Working from photographs in acrylic (or oils if you prefer), Darla will capture your beloved companion's image in a traditional or more colorful "funky" painting you will treasure forever. Standard size is 16" x 20" (you can request a smaller painting) for $125. Larger sizes go up in $10 increments ( 18 x 24, 20 x 24, 24 x 30, etc...). Please add $45 for portraits in oil. Your painting will be sealed appropriately for the medium you choose. Allow 14 days to receive your unframed artwork. For more information or to order your painting, contact Darla at letters4darla@gmail.com or (214)543-4332.

Who We Are

We are St. Francis Animal Welfare Group (SFAWG). SFAWG is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to providing needed veterinary care and socialization so stray, abandoned or otherwise-displaced dogs and cats can find loving forever homes. All of our dogs, and most of our cats, are shown on our website. We try to update the pictures and descriptions daily. Many of our cats can be seen daily at the PetsMart stores in Murfreesboro and Smyrna, TN. Our dogs reside in foster homes and can be seen at our adoption events at PetsMart in Murfreesboro. See our events calendar for dates. For information about a particular dog or cat, please email us at sfawg.att.net.

How about being a foster family?

A foster home generously opens its heart to provide shelter to a dog or cat waiting for a happily-ever-after. SFAWG provides food, and vetting; you supply love and valuable feedback about the dog or cat - personality, temperatment and other information to help us match him or her with the best home. We work with you under a written adoption agreement so we and you know exactly what to expect. Families who foster dogs are asked to bring them or make them available to attend our adoption events. The public also becomes aware of our adoptable dogs and cats via petfinder.com, PetSmart LuvAPet adoption centers, and PetSmart adoption days. What are some other ways to help? By offering your individual skills and talents! The demand is great, the volunteer opportunities are many, but the rewards outnumber them both. Our greatest needs are funds and foster homes, but we also need volunteers to update the website, transport dogs and cats to events and for vetcare, and help with events. If you’d like to help, please email us at sfawg@att.net or call us at 615-228-5335 to discuss the best way to put your talent to work for the animals.

Adopting a friend

For dog adoptions, we require a written application that includes contact information for your vet and/or other references. We review your application with you and check your references. The next step is a visit to your home. Our purpose is not to evaluate your lifestyle or housekeeping but to assess whether our dog will find a safe and loving environment in which to live. For nearly all of our dogs we require a securely fenced outdoor space. We will consider invisible fencing or no fence in exceptional situations that address the individual dog's needs. Once these steps are completed and your application is approved, we execute a contract and collect your adoption fee. Please understand that every step in our adoption process is designed to ensure a good match between you and our dog.
